- Systematic review requests must be submitted using our Expert/Systematic Review Search Request Form. Once this has been submitted, a librarian will contact you to schedule a consultation and begin the process.
- Primary Researcher must be a UAB faculty, resident, fellow, staff. This person will serve as the primary contact with the librarian.
- For Graduate students listed as the primary researcher, a UAB faculty member must a team member mentoring and overseeing the review.
- Our librarians are often involved in multiple systematic review requests at a time. Due to the time commitments involved with systematic reviews, we try to work as quickly as possible. Requests are prioritized on a first come, first served basis.
- Priority will be given to systematic review projects supported by grants or other funds, which contribute to library costs in the budget of the grant proposal, or other time-sensitive projects.
- Librarians will be listed as co-authors for collaboration services.
- The Librarians reserve the right to decline systematic review requests if they are not in accordance with our policies.
- UAB Libraries will maintain records related to a systematic review search for 10 years. Research teams are responsible for complying with any data sharing or archiving policies.
- Research team must provide a project protocol/plan before searches are completed
- Librarians are given 1-3 months to complete the searches after the research question is defined or after the protocol is written
- Timely communications and feedback to systematic review librarians, including either email, in-person or video-conference meetings is required
- Before UAB librarians will begin work on a systematic review search, the research PI must indicate understanding of, and agreement with, the policies in the Memorandum of Understanding.
