| Historical Note | The UAB Day of History program was developed for the UAB community by the Reynolds Historical Library and the UAB Center for Aging. Dr. Geraldine M. Emerson (Center for Aging) and Mary Claire Britt (Reynolds Historical Library) were instrumental in the development and execution of the series over the 1983-1986 time period. The Day of History program was designed as a series of seminars, roundtable discussions, and events that covered the history of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The series resulted in eight separate Day of History events, each dedicated to a specific school or unit of the university. The UAB Day of History events were: Day of History #1: School of Medicine, January 19, 1983 Day of History #2: School of Dentistry, September 20, 1983 Day of History #3: University College, January 24, 1984 Day of History #4: School of Nursing, October 4, 1984 Day of History #5: UAB Graduate School, February 5, 1985 Day of History #6: School of Education and Human Sciences, September 24, 1985 Day of History #7: University Hospital, November 12, 1985 Day of History #8: School of Community and Allied Health, March 4, 1986 |
