The author of many novels, at least a dozen plays, and numerous short works including literary criticism, political texts, and essays, spent much of her life on her grandmother’s estate of Nohant in the province of Berry, an estate which she inherited upon her grandmother’s death in 1821. In 1822 Aurore Dupin married Casimir Dudevant and they were parents of a son and daughter before their separation in 1831. Sand published novels on a regular basis between 1831 and the mid 1860s. She died in her beloved Nohant and was buried on the estate. |
