A new reading nook nestled near the Writing Center on the first floor of Mervyn Sterne Library is home to comfy chairs and regularly updated popular magazines and newspapers — perfect for taking a break from the books and enjoying a good read.
Blazers can peruse copies of magazines like “Esquire,” “The New Yorker,” “Bon Appétit,” “Rolling Stone,” and “National Geographic,” as well as local, regional and national newspapers, from the “Tuscaloosa News” and the “Atlanta Journal-Constitution” to the “Washington Post” and more.
“Magazine and newspaper subscriptions can be costly, so we’re glad to be able to provide these at no cost to Sterne Library patrons,” said Jaycee Chapman, collections development librarian.
All items are rotated regularly, and older editions are swapped out by UAB Libraries’ User Access staff as they come in. Puzzles and coloring pages also are available in the reading nook.
In addition to accessing physical copies of popular publications in the reading nook, Blazers can access digital editions of “The New York Times,” the “Wall Street Journal” and “Financial Times” at no cost through UAB Libraries. Get step-by-step instructions online.
