The new log-in alternative, located on the first floor at the curved counter near the HUB Desk at the library entrance, enables students to log their hours by scanning a QR code if they choose to study elsewhere in Sterne or outside Success Center hours.A new option now is available on the first floor of Sterne Library for students to track study hours to meet sorority and fraternity and financial aid-based requirements, thanks to a partnership between the Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center (VMASC) and UAB Libraries.
Students who need to log study hours already can do so by checking in with their BlazerID at the kiosk inside VMASC on the second floor of Sterne during open hours 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. The new log-in alternative, located on the first floor at the curved counter near the HUB Desk at the library entrance, will enable students to log their hours by scanning a QR code if they choose to study elsewhere in Sterne or outside Success Center hours.
“We are excited to partner with Sterne Library to expand study hour access for our students,” said Mellissa Taylor, assistant director of Academic Support in VMASC. “This new scannable option provides greater flexibility by allowing students to choose the study environment that works best for them while still meeting scholarship, fraternity and sorority, and other academic requirements. By increasing access and convenience, we are removing barriers and creating more opportunities for students to succeed. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to promoting academic success through intentional support and student-centered resources.”
Sterne Library is open to anyone with a ONE Card 24 hours a day Monday-Thursday and closes 6 p.m. Friday; the building also is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and reopens for each week Sunday at noon. Visit library.uab.edu/hours to find hours for all UAB Libraries facilities.
