Discussion of Social Issues in Latino Communities on February 21

The Spanish and Latino Student Association (SALSA) will present a panel discussion on “Social Issues in Latino Communities,” on Thursday, February 21, from 6:30-7:30 pm in Mervyn H. Sterne Library Room #174. Join us for this panel with experts in the fields of health care and law to hear about some of the social issues that Latino communities face around the U.S. Light refreshments will be served.

Annual Reynolds-Finley Historical Lecture is February 22

The 40th Annual Reynolds-Finley Historical Lecture will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. "What Doctors Say and What Patients and Families Hear: Lessons from the History of Medicine and Pediatrics" will be presented by Hughes Evans, MD, PhD, Marcus Professor of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine.

Afternoon Tea Returns to LHL with Changes

Afternoon Tea will start back the first week of February and will end the last week of March. A few changes have been made in order to reach out to more students throughout the semester. This spring the librarians will host tea on alternating Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at the same time, same place: 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. next to the HUB on the first floor of LHL.

Business Research Toolkit Registration Now Open

Security Improvements for the Spring Term

Starting with the spring term on January 7, 2019, all patrons will be required to swipe their ONE Cards to enter Sterne Library all the hours that the library is open. This includes the INTO entrance on the second level up the ramp.
At Lister Hill Library, access between the ground floor and the Library space on the first and second floors has been eliminated. Access the ground floor at street level and use the front elevator or stairwell in the lobby to access the Library on the first floor or plaza level.

Panel Discussion on UAB African American Trailblazers

Join us on January 23rd from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. in Sterne Library #174 for “Celebrating UAB African American Trailblazers: Fifty Years of Firsts,” the 4th Annual Reflection on Civil and Human Rights Series event. 2019 marks UAB’s 50th Anniversary, a rich history that includes many notable contributions from African Americans. Come join us as we traverse UAB’s hiring landscape via a panel discussion and recognize some of these first achievements and achievers.
This UAB Community Month event is sponsored by UAB Libraries, African American Faculty Association and UAB African American Studies Program.
